CDS Project
Black Family Displacement on the East Side of Providence is a project that explores Rhode Island’s capital with a particular focus on Providence’s East Side. This project is not static, it is active. It goes beyond the documentation of coordinated federal, state and local policy erasure to create a platform of and for a practice, a practice for community participatory contributions and creation. We hold part of the history of one story of erasure, which morphs, shape shifts and replicates. It tells some stories of who and what was erased, and their contributions, the many manifestations of removal and displacement. It also asks for accountability and brings the community in to continue to develop the stories and narrative.
